Sketch Series 1

I understand we wee to conduct our studies @ the same time each observation, but I purposefully waited until later in the afternoon, because I was curious to see the angle in which the shadows would fall during the later portion of the day. Out of all studies conducted, this picture is the most dramatic and inspiring to continue a series of 'afternoon pictures' for the space. I especially appreciate the presence of the fan which creates a nice contrasting shadow to shadows created from the window trim.

It was really rainy today day, "April Showers Bring May Flowers!". The room is very poorly lit, therefore encouraging artificial lighting. I currently have 2 incandescent lamps to illuminate the space, I am beginning to think that w/out the addition of the fluorescent lighting in the kitchen, the 2 incandescent lamps may not be adequate lighting for the Living Space overall.

Another thought, the temperature has dropped today, I am pretty sure if it were a Sunny day all the natural light, especially in the afternoon, would definitely warm the space to a comfortable room temp.

JUST A LIGHT FIXTURE....

YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Sketch Series 1

I can now see that as we move more into the summer months there is more light distribution throughout the space as a whole. Play on shadow is now more evident & as someone inhabiting the space I can feel the difference in both temperature & the way daylight can effect your mood.

Saturday, March 15th was a very gloomy day for Greensboro...and surrounding areas. I didn't feel as if I would have gotten much out of a picture of a dark room due to the clouds blocking natural light, the main source of light to the room. Today, however I actually get the chance to see shadows displayed on the floor and furniture. I would have to say that this may be the study thus far for Sketch Series 1: my family room.

ASSIGNMENT 1: Lighting that moves/awe/inspires

This is just the start of my Lighting notebook. Assignment 1 was a good way to start off and now I plan on looking into other lighting examples. Whether that be natural, artificial....
